Service Description

*Join us afterwards for cake celebrating Victor's birthday* Come and experience the healing, centering and joyful effects of Kirtan - a heart centred form of yoga and vocal meditation involving chanting mantras accompanied by music It's a really fun and effective way to pause the busy chatter in your mind, and bring you into a more loving connection with yourself and others, centering your attention on your heart space. It can help you experience the many benefits of meditation without having to sit still or be quiet! Mantra literally means 'mind tool / free the mind' Kirtan is a highly effective way to reduce stored stress as it activates your vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system through the vibrations in your throat, and long outbreaths, whilst singing It helps to develop a strong sense of loving community that arises as we come together in the intention of love and connection with our breath, with the music, the mantras, and our voices - it's magic! The practice creates hormonal and neurological changes that bring about feel-good experiences that both calm and uplift body and mind simultaneously. Kirtan offers a safe container for healthy emotional release. The positive sound vibrations open up space around the throat and heart chakras that allow for greater self expression, freedom and release. Kirtan is accessible for everyone, and requires no musical ability or previous experience to enjoy all the benefits. **Online booking price closes 7pm the day before the event. After that, on the door price increases to £25 - exact cash/PayPal only on the door** Led by Julie Preston & Victor Tyrrell, husband and wife duo who met through Kirtan. They've been sharing it regularly since 2011 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and at local and international retreats and festivals, as well as performing alongside grammy nominated Kirtan artist, Dave Stringer. Both are musicians in their own right, and are deeply passionate about the healing and transformative effects of this music & mantra practice bringing together communities in loving connection and devotion. *Older children are welcome, but need to be able to respect the meditative nature of the practice in between chants to sit quietly
